でもコリアンダーって東南アジアの食べ物でしょ、というツッコミが入りそうであるが実はコリアンダーは地中海原産でローマ時代から食用として使われていたんです。Veneziaのカーニバルにおいて投げる紙吹雪をcoriandoloと言いますが元々はコリアンダーの種を砂糖でコーティングししたものを投げていたためこう呼ばれます。
余談ですがカーニバルは都市によって投げるものが違います。ピエモンテのIvreaというところではaranciaを投げ合います。片付け大変そう。
