バレエを踊る人だからバレリーナって言うんでしょ
単純に言えばそうなのですが、語学的に言うともう少し複雑になります。
まず バレエに関してですがこれはフランス語の balletから来た言葉です。イタリア語では balletto（バレエではなくバレットと発音されます）といいballetの元になったと言われています。
いっぽう バレリーナはイタリア語のballerinaから直接来た言葉で（フランス語ではバレリーヌ）、元のイタリア語ではバレエだけでなく「踊る女の人」です。（ballareという動詞からきています）男の人はballerinoです。
余談ですがイタリア語で付け爪のことをballerinaと言います。形がバレエシューズに似ていることから来た言葉です。
