イタリアにも実はこうした紛らわしい地方が存在します。Abruzzoです。Abruzzoに住んでいる人は、自分達は中部 centroに住んでいると思っていますが大抵の分類では南部 sudということになっています。これは地理的なものではなく歴史的なものが関係しています。イタリアという国ができる前、AbruzzoはRegno delle due Sicilieという国に属していたことが影響しています。
